Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, defines a building energy management system (BEMS) as: ‘A programmable control system which monitors and analyses energy usage and uses this information to control equipment.’
It defines a building management system (BMS) as: ‘A programmable control system which controls systems such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning.’
